Happy New Year everybody! I've come to the point in my life where I'm looking for an amp with a loud but clean sound. For years I've been playing with a "sweet and thick" distorsion and the clean sound has always suffered. This time I thought it was time for a change. I've just bought myself a Paul Rivera built Fender concert (60 w) from 82. It's an all tube amp, loud as hell but still 100% clean, not even a little bit of "crunch". 10 minutes ago I switched it off and now I'm trying to digest the…Read more
Road report: "HFMC" Oct 19 2015
Of course it's important to play the right notes and to sing in the right key etc but to me it's even more important to be able to touch and move people. Considering the response we'd get from the audience during and after our sets, I can only say we've been very successful in that sense and that alone is making me sitting here in my livingroom feeling happy, tired and uplifted at the same time as I'm writing this. I wish I could say we had a full house every night but that was not the case. We had poor turnouts on some occassions but not even that can take away me thinking we did the right thing. In fact I'm pretty happy how things turned out and I know that the people who attended the concerts will look at Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion as a great live band from now on.
The chemistry between the bands and crewmembers was very good from day one and I have to lift my hat off to Johnny Taxén who really made this a smooth ride (tour management extraordinaire!). Hmmm...cough...hmmm...I hope you'll excuse me but now it's time to brag a little. This tour has taken us to Sweden (not that surprising maybe), Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, England and France and as a matter of fact people have been praising our new album, telling me it's the best one so far this year in all the countries we've visited. If you think of all the great releases so far this year I bet you understand it's kind of hard for me to take in. It's almost surreal but hey...it's very much appreciated! Hmmm...cough...hmmm...the bragging section is now over and it's time for some anecdotes. As you all know Kjelle is a funny guy - a funny guy that never sleeps. His diagnosis on the rest of us on the bus was that we suffered from narcolepsy. The reason for that was that we probably slept at night. Very often the bus starts to get a funky smell after a while on the road. It might be the smell of the clothes you're wearing on stage that are hanging in the bus to dry after the show. It could also be the scent of 14 male homosapiens living in a very limited space. Anyway, I felt sorry for the only lady onboard, Mare Thomas (merch, who did an outstanding job by the way) who had to spend 24/7 together with us and the fragrance on the bus that Kjell so nicely described as "wet German Shepherd".
To you who have been asking me for a live DVD of this tour my answer is: I consider it possible. I have some things I need to check out first before I can give you a yes or a no. I'm going to leave you guys with the words that our German Tech/Roadie Olly Uhl (over 40 years in the business and has worked with every name you know of) said to me after the last show: "To have witnessed you guys playing your beautiful music with the vocals spot on and not a wrong note played for 9 nights in a row, is impressive even to me". Well it might not be 100 % correct but thank you anyway Olly.
